The Challenge

Karahi Boys Ajax, an established Pakistani restaurant franchise with strong local presence, was expanding into a new Ontario market with zero brand awareness. Unlike their original location where word-of-mouth had driven growth, this new market required a different customer acquisition strategy. The restaurant faced several critical challenges: establishing credibility and online visibility in a competitive quick-service dining market, managing Google Search and Maps rankings for high-volume restaurant keywords like "Pakistani food near me," "halal restaurant," and location-specific searches. Additionally, they needed to coordinate online ordering across multiple platforms (DoorDash, Uber Eats, Skip) while maintaining brand consistency. The team lacked a comprehensive digital marketing strategy and struggled to compete against established chains and other ethnic restaurants for market share.

Our Solution

We implemented a multi-channel local marketing strategy designed specifically for restaurant expansion. First, we optimized their Google My Business profile with complete information, high-quality images, service categories, and local citations across 15+ directories (Yelp, Apple Maps, TripAdvisor, Zomato). We created location-specific landing pages targeting long-tail keywords like "Pakistani restaurant in [neighborhood]," "halal shawarma and karahi in [area]," and "authentic South Asian dining near [location]." For social media, we developed a content calendar focused on mouth-watering food photography, behind-the-scenes kitchen content, and customer testimonials. We ran targeted Instagram and Facebook ads to people within a 3-mile radius interested in ethnic cuisine, food, and dining. We launched a strategic review generation campaign, incentivizing customers to leave Google and Yelp reviews, which improved local search visibility and social proof. We also coordinated with local community organizations, arranged opening day influencer partnerships, and implemented email marketing to build a repeat customer database. The strategy integrated online ordering aggregators with point-of-sale tracking to optimize delivery times and monitor performance across all channels.

The Outcome

Within 6 months, Karahi Boys Ajax achieved dramatic growth in the new market. Customer footfall increased 150%, with peak hours regularly managing 300+ customers. Online orders grew 330%, representing 45% of total revenue. Their Google My Business profile ranked in the top 3 for 12+ local search keywords, with 180+ verified five-star reviews and a 4.7 overall rating. Instagram followers grew from 500 to 8,200, with average post engagement rates of 6.2%. Email subscriber list reached 2,800 customers enabling repeat business through loyalty promotions. Monthly revenue increased 180%, significantly exceeding franchisee expectations. The success established a proven playbook for expanding into additional Ontario markets, and the client approved opening two additional locations within the year. This case demonstrates how integrated local SEO, social media, and community engagement drive rapid customer acquisition for restaurant franchises in new markets.
